On Saturday, May 30, Manilva’s beaches will be filled with sports lovers as its first ‘12 Horas Deportivas Playa’, a twelve-hour beach sports festival spreads across four locations. La Noria, El Cali, La Colonia and El Castillo.
What you’ll see on the day
Three exciting sports will be on show, Beach Football (Fútbol Playa), Beach Volleyball (Voley Playa) and Footvolley 2×2 (Fútvoley 2×2). Footvolley is a fast-growing hybrid of football and volleyball played barefoot in the sand. Competitive action will be across all four beaches throughout the day, with something to watch at every turn.
Young talent and senior all part of the action
The Beach Football and Footvolley 2×2 competitions feature youth categories from Under 8s through to Under 16s (Prebenjamín, Benjamín, Alevín, Infantil and Cadete), with up to eight teams per category and squads of ten players. Beach Volleyball will have senior competitors in both male and female categories, with up to sixteen teams per category battling it out on the sand.
Mark your diary for July and next year
Registration for the 2026 edition closed on Thursday, May 21 and was allocated strictly in order of application, so demand was clearly high. If you’d like to compete in future editions, it’s worth getting in touch with the Manilva sports department well ahead of time. Contact them by WhatsApp on 687 835 115, email deportes@ayto-manilva.com with the subject line “12 horas deportivas playa”, or call 952 89 15 32 for general information.
Keep an eye out for the 2027 registration window, and in the meantime if the beach sports day wets your appetite for more, Manilva has another sporting event to look forward to. Now in its 39th edition the 24 hour Sports in Manilva takes place June 26 and 27, this event has eleven sports: chess, basketball, fishing, padel, seven-a-side football, paddle surf, cycling, futsal, petanque, climbing, tennis and night trail running. Trophies are awarded across all sports, with cash prizes of 600€ for the Futsal Masculino champion and 300€ for the runner-up, plus sporting equipment for the Basketball 3×3 and Padel winners. Registration is open from May 11 to June 14, request the PDF sign-up form via WhatsApp on 687 835 115 or 619 725 321, and return it completed to 24horasdeportivas@ayto-manilva.com.
