Young regattists from Club Náutico Villajoyosa delivered standout performances during the latest Jocs Esportius sailing competition held on May 16 at Club Náutico Benidorm, continuing the club’s strong season in youth nautical sport.
The sporting event brought together young competitors from across the Valencian Community for a full day of racing under ideal spring sailing conditions. The competition began with lighter winds during the opening race before medium-strength conditions arrived later in the day, allowing participants to complete four races under sunny skies.
Podium success for Villajoyosa sailors
Club Náutico Villajoyosa achieved several podium finishes in the Optimist class categories, one of the most important youth sailing disciplines for developing future competitive sailors.
In the alevín female category, Triana Gonzales Silvan secured fourth place after maintaining consistent performances throughout the races.
The club enjoyed even greater success in the alevín male category, where David Santonja claimed first place overall. Saúl Santonja followed closely behind in second place while Pablo Soler Boil completed the podium in third. Adrián Buterus also achieved a strong result, finishing fourth in the category.
Villajoyosa also celebrated victory in the Windsurf category, where Pedro Martínez Llinares achieved first place overall following a highly competitive day on the water.
Club representatives praised the determination, enthusiasm and sportsmanship shown by all the young participants throughout the event.
Youth sailing continues growing on the Costa Blanca
The competition formed part of the Jocs Esportius programme, an initiative promoting youth sport and athletic development across the Valencian Community.
Events such as these continue playing an important role in developing young sporting talent while encouraging teamwork, discipline and healthy outdoor activity among younger generations.
Club Náutico Villajoyosa also thanked Club Náutico Benidorm for hosting the competition and welcoming sailors, coaches and families throughout the event.
Youth sailing has continued growing steadily along the Costa Blanca in recent years, with local nautical clubs investing heavily in training programmes, competitions and grassroots development.
Municipalities such as Villajoyosa and Benidorm have become important centres for sailing and water sports, helping maintain the strong maritime traditions that continue defining much of the Mediterranean coastline.
The latest results once again highlighted the promising future of young sailors developing through Costa Blanca nautical clubs and regional sporting programmes.
