Salobreña’s new health centre opens on June 22. Staff completed last-minute tasks, including tidying outdoor green areas. Some patients have already booked appointments for care in the new building located in the TH1 development area.
Full range of medical services from day one
Health management plan to activate every service on the first day of operation. The list includes family medicine, nursing care, paediatrics, physiotherapy and even radiology. All these move across from the old premises without interruption to patient care.
Construction is achieved via multilevel government support
Several public bodies combined efforts to deliver the project. Salobreña council transferred the building plot to the Andalucia regional government. The Spanish central government supplied funding drawn from European Union resources. Andalucian authorities managed spending and fitted out the premises with necessary medical technology. The complex covers 2,500 square metres across three floors.
Year-round emergency care represents a major advance
The continuous attention point is expected to improve through a second permanent emergency team available 365 days a year. This arrangement improves response for local people. Previously the extra team ran only in the summer period to manage higher tourist demand.
Greater capacity with modern and spacious layout
General practitioner slots will increase to eight from the previous seven. The interior layout follows modern standards with generous space allocation. A specific area serves maternal and infant needs. The paediatric section stays separate from adult patients. Equipped rooms now will allow minor surgical interventions. Education rooms support health promotion activities. The radiology section contains the latest generation of equipment for diagnostic imaging.
Parking and road access upgrades ease patient flow
The old clinic faced an ongoing shortage of parking places. However, this current project resolves this long-standing difficulty. Improved road links and extensive parking space help patients reach the centre faster. These changes prove especially useful when medical emergencies arise and quick access matters most.
Main medical facility for Costa Tropical population
The new centre provides primary care for more than 17,500 residents across Costa Tropical zone. Coverage extends to Salobreña town and its associated districts La Caleta and La Guardia as well as Lobres. People from adjacent towns including Molvizar, Itrabo and Los Guajares can also attend or get referred there for treatment.
