The Malaga Automobile and Fashion Museum celebrated record participation in this, its tenth year of its annual charity convoy held at Plaza Tabacalera. Hundreds of people of all ages gathered for a day of fun and fundraising that succeeded in collecting €8,300 destined entirely for the superheroes’ association known as ‘One Child One Smile’.

One Child, One Smile relies on volunteers who dress as superheroes when visiting children admitted to Malaga medical centres and their families during difficult times. These visits are meant to deliver moments of joy and distraction that ease the strain of hospital stays for young patients and their relatives. Proceeds from the solidarity convoy will allow the association to arrange further visits and reach even more households requiring this type of comforting support.

The tenth year delivers support to date

Hundreds of residents turned out to enjoy the community spirit during activities designed for children of different ages. Live music concerts entertained the crowds while a large charity raffle distributed over 150 gifts kindly donated by numerous collaborating local businesses. Everyone involved contributed to a successful day focused on helping others. Activities ranged from play areas for youngsters to performances by local musicians creating shared enjoyment and purpose.

Historic vehicles make for an eye-catching procession

More than forty classic cars belonging to motoring clubs from across Andalucia took part in the main parade. Enthusiasts drove the historic vehicles through various Malaga streets attracting attention from both local people and tourists who stopped in their tracks to watch the impressive line of motors. Passion for classic vehicles then mixed with support for an important charitable effort on this occasion.

Beneficiary group appreciates community support

Sergio Muñoz, as head of the Superheroes association, thanked all the organisations that played a part in the day. Every single euro collected will become moments of excitement for boys and girls who face very challenging circumstances, he explained. Continued backing of this nature proves so important for maintaining association programmes throughout the year. Assistance from the event enables the group to extend its reach to additional families and keep bringing happiness to locations where it proves most essential.

Museum directors’ lasting commitment after ten years

Elvira Carrera and Mar González, who run the museum, pointed out that the charity convoy originated from a desire to use style, heritage and public engagement abilities for the benefit of those in greatest need. They added that ten years on, the original spirit continues with even greater strength than before, as evidenced by growing participation and donations each year.
