One of Mallorca’s most characterful neighbourhood celebrations is about to get underway as the Festes de Sant Pere return to Los Damunt in Alaró, bringing five days of culture, community spirit and non-stop entertainment to the historic quarter.

Running from June 25 to 29, the festival transforms the narrow streets and squares of Los Damunt into a lively stage for traditional Mallorcan customs, family activities, live music, exhibitions and some of the island’s most beloved summer traditions.

Fire, drums and a spectacular opening night

The festivities begin on Wednesday evening with the traditional Pregó de Festes, officially launching the celebrations before the focus shifts to one of the most anticipated events of the week.

As darkness falls, the streets will fill with fire and percussion for a children’s correfoc, allowing younger residents to experience the island’s famous fire-run tradition in a family-friendly setting. The evening then builds towards the Petada dels Tretze de na Pola, a dramatic pyrotechnic display organised by the Dimonis d’Alaró that is expected to draw crowds from across the municipality.

Art, cinema and fun for younger visitors

The programme places a strong emphasis on community participation, with exhibitions showcasing local artists and creators throughout the festivities.

Children are particularly well catered for, with activities including traditional games, sports sessions, workshops, a foam party and a special open-air screening of Paddington: Adventure in the Jungle. Families can also enjoy creative workshops designed for younger children, helping ensure every generation has a place in the celebrations.

A taste of local life

Saturday’s events embrace the area’s rural roots with the popular Camamil·lada excursion, giving participants the chance to explore the surrounding countryside before returning to the heart of the festivities.

The evening then moves into full celebration mode with the Revetlla de Sant Pere in Plaça de Cabrit i Bassa. Live bands, DJs and entertainment will keep the square buzzing late into the night as locals and visitors gather to celebrate together.

Food also plays an important role throughout the programme. One highlight sees local cooks demonstrate traditional Mallorcan recipes, offering a glimpse into the culinary traditions that have shaped generations of island life.

Music, theatre and a grand finale

Music lovers will find plenty to enjoy, including a tribute concert dedicated to legendary Spanish singer-songwriters Joan Manuel Serrat and Joaquín Sabina.

The festival concludes on June 29 with a celebration of Mallorcan heritage featuring traditional instruments, popular dances and theatrical performances. These closing events provide a fitting tribute to the customs that continue to define life in Alaró.

For five days, Los Damunt becomes much more than a neighbourhood. It becomes a gathering place where tradition meets celebration, offering one of the most authentic and welcoming summer festivals anywhere in Mallorca.
