Thousands of music fans gathered in Benidorm on Sunday June 28 as the city hosted the first-ever LOS40 Playa Pop festival at its brand-new SkyFest concert venue, officially launching what organisers hope will become one of the Costa Blanca’s biggest annual summer events.
The free festival transformed the Ciudad Deportiva Guillermo Amor into a giant open-air music venue, with crowds arriving from late afternoon to secure a spot before the performances began.
Presented by popular LOS40 radio host Tony Aguilar, the event featured a packed line-up of established names and rising Spanish pop artists, creating a lively atmosphere that lasted well into the evening.

The concert opened with a DJ set from Aitor Belda before a succession of artists took to the stage, including Paula Koops, Adexe & Nau, Kuve, Daniela Blasco, Denna, Malva, Carlos Marco, Javi Crespo, Guille Toledano and Kenneth.
Among the biggest draws of the evening were Bombai, whose feel-good songs have become synonymous with the Spanish summer, and David Otero. The former El Canto del Loco guitarist performed a special set celebrating the 60th anniversary of LOS40, treating fans to a mix of nostalgic favourites and more recent material.
Throughout the night, the audience sang along to chart hits while enjoying one of the first major events to be staged at the city’s new outdoor concert arena.
New chapter for Benidorm entertainment
The festival also marked the official debut of SkyFest, a purpose-built outdoor venue expected to host concerts and large-scale events throughout the year.
City leaders have positioned the new space as an important addition to Benidorm’s entertainment offering, complementing the resort’s beaches, nightlife and tourism appeal while attracting major national music events.
Holding the inaugural concert as a free public event helped draw visitors from across the Costa Blanca and beyond, giving many people their first opportunity to experience the new venue.
Music with a charitable purpose
Although general admission was free, the festival also had a charitable side. Special front-stage passes were sold for €5, with proceeds supporting local organisations including occupational centre Doble Amor and breast cancer charity Anémona Marina Baixa.
The combination of free live music and fundraising added an extra community element to the celebration, with organisers describing the event as more than simply a concert.
With its successful debut, strong attendance and a line-up featuring some of Spain’s best-known pop performers, LOS40 Playa Pop has given Benidorm another major summer attraction and provided a memorable opening night for the city’s newest live music venue.
