From July 10 to 12, the charming old town of La Nucia will transform into a bustling, open-air time capsule for its annual Medieval Market. Winding through the historic streets surrounding the Plaça Major and Plaça Sant Antoni, this highly anticipated event offers a magical weekend filled with history, culture, and family-friendly entertainment.
Artisan stalls, live music, and traditional flavours
Over the course of three days, the old town will come alive with the sights, sounds, and aromas of the Middle Ages. Visitors can stroll through dozens of stalls featuring authentic handmade crafts and traditional gastronomy, offering everything from artisan cheeses to medieval-style grilled meats. The atmosphere will be topped off by live musicians playing historical instruments, thrilling street theatre, and fascinating live demonstrations of ancient and culturally significant skills.
Falcons, thrilling knight tournaments and historic displays
A major highlight of the weekend will be the highly anticipated historical re-enactments and interactive displays scattered throughout the market. Visitors will have the unique chance to watch skilled falconers demonstrating the ancient art of bird-of-prey handling, watch master blacksmiths forge iron over roaring open fires, and even witness dramatic, choreographed knight tournaments. These performances will breathe life into the historic backdrop of the old town, ensuring that every corner turned offers a new, unforgettable glimpse into the medieval world for this special weekend.
Evening festivities and family entertainment
Designed with families in mind, the market features a dedicated children’s programme packed with games and activities to keep the little ones enchanted. Following the tradition of previous years, the market primarily opens in the late afternoon and evening, allowing visitors to escape the midday summer heat and enjoy the festivities under the romantic glow of evening lanterns.
Whether you are looking to learn more about the region’s rich heritage, shop for unique handmade goods, or simply enjoy a magical evening out with the kids, La Nucia’s Medieval Market is a spectacular summer highlight on the Costa Blanca.
