Cartagena is preparing to feel the vibrant and lively atmosphere of the La Mar de Músicas celebration, an event which has already begun to decorate the streets of Carmen and Puertas de Murcia and which will begin in mid-July. This festival, which is now in its 31st edition, will be inspired by Ecuador, the guest country of this edition, and will feature vibrant music, culture, and community socialisation in this major Costa Calida hub.
A summer highlight for the Murcia region
La Mar de Músicas is one of the most important cultural events of the summer in the Region of Murcia, and will bring the culture of Ecuador close to both residents and thousands of visitors who walk through the streets of the city every day.
Live music, art, and free events
This event will offer a total of 45 concerts, of which nearly half of them will be free of charge to attend, alongside a programme of film, literature, art exhibitions, and gastronomic activities. This year, the festival will showcase Ecuador’s rich culture and traditions, through music, contemporary art, and national and international performances linked to this colourful South American country.
Community celebrations and local flavours
This festival is designed to be an immersive, city-wide experience that engages the local community with specialised workshops, street performances, and interactive art installations will allow festival-goers of all ages to actively participate rather than just spectate. Local businesses, particularly restaurants and cafes, are also getting into the spirit by offering curated menus that fuse traditional Murcian flavours with traditional Ecuadorian cuisine.
Consolidating Cartagena as a cultural hub on the Costa Calida
Cartagena has already begun to decorate the streets of the municipality with banners and posters, preparing for another successful edition of this event. With vibrant performances and delicious food, La Mar de Músicas is highly anticipated as one of the great cultural references of the Costa Calida.
This 31st edition underscores Cartagena’s reputation as a premier destination for cultural tourism in Spain. As the final touches are put in place, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be an unforgettable mid-July awakening of rhythm, colour, and cross-continental unity.
