The Costa Blanca’s charity community continues to organise events that bring people together while raising vital funds for worthwhile causes. From a popular car boot sale supporting rescued animals to a special farewell charity ball in aid of DEBRA Spain, these events offer the chance to enjoy a great day or evening out while making a difference to the lives of others.
Charity boot sale supports Barkinside Animal Sanctuary in Hondón de los Frailes
Bargain hunters and animal lovers are invited to spend the morning at Barkinside Animal Sanctuary’s next Car Boot Sale and Open Air Market, taking place on Sunday, 12 July at The Tipsy Terrace in Hondón de los Frailes.
Whether you’re looking for a bargain, clearing out unwanted items or simply fancy a relaxed morning out, the event promises plenty to see and do while helping to support the sanctuary and the animals in its care.
Sellers can arrive from 8:00 AM, with buyers welcome from 9:00 AM. Outdoor pitches and full facilities will be available, and anyone wishing to sell is encouraged to book a space in advance by calling or messaging (+34) 697 122 883.
Visitors won’t go hungry either. Tea, coffee, bacon and sausage baguettes, full English breakfasts and a selection of snacks will be served throughout the morning.
Barkinside Animal Sanctuary is a volunteer-run rescue that provides lifelong care for abandoned, neglected and unwanted animals. The sanctuary relies heavily on donations, fundraising events and community support to continue its work, with the regular boot sales playing an important role in raising much-needed funds.
The event is hosted by The Tipsy Terrace, Calle Padre Claret 18, Hondón de los Frailes.
Farewell Butterfly Charity Ball honours DEBRA volunteer in La Marina
After many years of dedication to fundraising and supporting the local community, Mary, manager of the DEBRA charity shop in La Marina, is preparing to retire.
To mark the occasion, friends, volunteers and supporters have organised a special Farewell Butterfly Charity Ball, with all proceeds helping DEBRA Spain continue its work supporting people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
EB is a group of rare, inherited disorders that cause skin to become extremely fragile. Even the mildest friction or rubbing can cause painful blisters and skin tears. It is often referred to as “butterfly skin” because the skin is as delicate as a butterfly’s wings.
The evening will take place on Friday, 25 September, at La Marina Camping Resort. Tickets are now on sale but expected to go quickly, so grab them while you can!
Guests will enjoy a poolside reception, a three-course meal with wine, live entertainment from soul singer Melvin, together with a grand raffle and charity auction. Entertainment has been sponsored by New Start Estate Agents.
Tickets are now on sale for €48 per person and are available at the DEBRA charity shop in Consum Square, La Marina.
