Locals in La Cala count El Jinete among their most valued restaurants. A short journey into the countryside between Calanova, La Cala Golf, Mijas Golf and Santana Golf, it provides countryside calm within easy reach for frequent visits. Its standing rests on years of consistent quality and a genuine welcome.

Diners value the character of the traditional Spanish estate. Inside warm lighting and cooling air conditioning maintain comfort. Outside the terrace gives clear views over rolling hills shaded by palms and vines. This space encourages relaxed conversation and time spent in the landscape. Chef Roque Martínez Luna converted a simple roadside bar into a destination known in the area. He began by improving the kitchen and menu then watched the venue grow through steady custom.

Best in live entertainment on Costa del Sol

Live music adds presence to summer evenings this year at El Jinete. Michael Dickinson is performing on piano vocals guitar and harmonica with styles close to Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder. In high demand all along the Costa del Sol, Zing Duo brings energy through saxophone and piano across soul Motown pop and dance material. Susan and Adrián create atmospheric pieces on voice and guitar from jazz, bossa nova and Spanish sounds. Steve Nelson supplies guitar and vocals with a feel drawn from Dire Straits.

Staff have earned constant thanks for their warm and attentive approach. One regular commented “Every time we visit the staff are absolutely wonderful. We cannot wait for next year’s visit.”

Chef Roque’s signature

Chef Roque Martínez Luna keeps the kitchen to exacting standards. He uses controlled flame to keep juices within grilled meats guided by accurate salt levels and chimichurri from fresh herbs. This method reflects his Argentine background and wider European experience. Results show clear flavours delivered with care and balance.

Dishes such as flame kissed steaks and their famous chateaubriand for two in tarragon sauce take centre place. Or the wonderful calf’s liver sauteéd with bacon and onions draw consistent approval. El Jinete salad fits summer dining while warm chocolate fondant with mint ice cream provides a satisfying end. One diner commented on the reliability “Every time their food has been so delicious. Never once had a substandard meal in ten years. Exceptional!”

El Jinete in Mijas Costa accepts reservations on 952 119 170. Discover them at Calle de La Cala Golf Km 4,5, Mijas Costa.
