Nature lovers and photography enthusiasts are once again being invited to capture one of the Costa Blanca’s most important natural spaces as Elche opens entries for the eighth PhotoClot photography competition. With cash prizes on offer and winning images set to feature in a travelling exhibition, the contest encourages photographers to celebrate the unique landscapes and natural beauty of El Clot de Galvany.
Competition celebrates summer at El Clot de Galvany
Photographers are being invited to capture the beauty of one of Elche’s best-known nature reserves as entries open for the eighth PhotoClot photography competition.
This year’s theme is “Summer at El Clot: Light and Landscape”, with both amateur and professional photographers encouraged to submit images showcasing El Clot de Galvany during the summer months.
As in previous years, a selection of the winning and shortlisted photographs will form part of a travelling exhibition that will visit social and educational centres across Elche.
Entries can be submitted until 22 September through the official El Clot de Galvany website, as well as via Instagram, Facebook and X. Each participant may enter up to five photographs.
Images should reflect this year’s theme by highlighting the relationship between natural light and the landscapes of the reserve. Basic editing, such as adjustments to brightness, contrast and sharpness, is permitted, but photo montages and images created using artificial intelligence will not be accepted.
Cash prizes and travelling exhibition
The competition offers three cash prizes. First prize is worth €625, second prize €250, while a third prize of €100 will be decided by an online public vote.
Councillor for the Environment José Antonio Román said the competition aims to create an exhibition that offers an authentic view of El Clot de Galvany through the eyes of the people who visit it.
The annual competition has become an important way of promoting the reserve’s rich biodiversity and changing seasonal landscapes while encouraging visitors to explore one of Elche’s most valuable natural environments. Organisers hope this year’s entries will once again highlight the beauty of the protected area and inspire more people to appreciate and conserve its unique wildlife and scenery.
