Charity golf days in Marbella will fund nurse salary for Butterfly Skin families

DEBRA Piel de Mariposa plans two benefit golf tournaments in Marbella to turn sport into practical support for people living with Butterfly Skin. Money raised aims to cover the salary of one nurse from the organisation’s socio-health team for another full year. That professional forms a vital link for patients and relatives across Spain.

Players and partner companies will gather on 12 August at Marbella Club Golf Resort and on 3 October at Aloha Golf Club. Both dates draw golfers ready to improve daily life for those affected by this rare condition.

Specialised nursing support across Spain

Nurses employed by DEBRA accompany families from the moment of birth. They advise on daily wound care, carry out home visits and train main carers plus hospital and health-centre staff so proper treatment reaches every region. Through the ESTAR BIEN programme, the same nurses keep a consultation telephone open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for families and clinicians alike.

Understanding Butterfly Skin

Butterfly skin, medically known as epidermolysis bullosa, is an incurable genetic disorder that makes skin and mucous membranes extremely fragile. Even light contact can produce painful wounds and blisters. Many patients require specialised dressing changes that last several hours each day, making trained wound-care professionals indispensable for better quality of life.

Tournament formats and entry details

The first meeting takes place on 12 August at Marbella Club Golf Resort in a Texas Scramble shotgun format. Teams of two, three or four players pay 145 euros each; the fee covers a picnic, a buggy and a cocktail at the Club House. The second meeting occurs on 3 October at Aloha Golf Club under Stableford individual rules. A green fee of €140 includes a picnic. Both events feature prizes for winners, a solidarity raffle and numerous gifts donated by supporting firms.

These golf days have run for over two decades and rank among the best-known charitable fixtures on the Costa del Sol sporting calendar.
