Every Drop Counts: Teulada-Moraira launches summer water-saving campaign as demand rises

Teulada-Moraira has launched a new awareness campaign encouraging everyone to use water more responsibly as the municipality faces its busiest time of year.

The initiative, ‘Cada gota suma’ (“Every Drop Counts”), is designed to remind both residents and holidaymakers that small changes in daily habits can make a meaningful difference to preserving local water resources during the summer, when consumption typically increases.

The campaign carries the message, “Take care of water, take care of what gives us life,” highlighting the importance of protecting one of the Costa Blanca’s most valuable natural assets.

Simple actions that can save thousands of litres

Rather than introducing restrictions, the campaign focuses on practical measures that households can adopt immediately. The council recommends taking shorter showers instead of baths, turning off taps while brushing teeth or washing dishes, and only running washing machines and dishwashers with full loads.

Residents are also encouraged to check their homes regularly for leaking taps or pipes, as even minor leaks can waste significant amounts of water over time. Swimming pool owners are advised to maintain their pools carefully.

The message is that every individual action, however small, contributes to reducing overall demand.

A shared responsibility for the future

Mayor Raúl Llobell said safeguarding the municipality’s water resources is a responsibility shared by everyone who lives in or visits Teulada-Moraira.

He stressed that while a single action may seem insignificant, the combined efforts of thousands of people can have a major impact on ensuring water remains available for future generations.

With the population swelling during the holiday season, the council hopes the campaign will encourage visitors as well as permanent residents to think carefully about their daily water use.

By promoting simple, achievable habits rather than drastic lifestyle changes, Teulada-Moraira hopes to foster a culture of responsible water consumption.
