Mallorca holiday bookings stay strong as British demand keeps island among Spain’s favourites

Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands continue to attract strong interest from holidaymakers this summer, with new figures showing demand remains ahead of last year even as bookings eased slightly compared with the previous week.

According to the latest data from travel technology platform Travelgate, bookings for the Balearics over the past seven days were 1 per cent higher than during the same period in 2025. While reservations dipped by 3.3 per cent compared with the previous week, the islands have comfortably held on to their position as Spain’s third most popular holiday destination.

Balearics remain a top choice

The Balearic Islands accounted for 8.5 per cent of all bookings made across Spain during the week, ranking behind Catalonia and Andalusia. The figures suggest that demand remains resilient as the peak summer season continues.

Booking patterns also reveal that travellers are planning ahead, with the largest share of holidays reserved one to two months before departure. Last-minute breaks are still popular too, with just over one in ten bookings made within 24 hours of travel.

British visitors continue to play a key role

Spanish travellers generated the highest number of bookings overall, but British tourists remained the second-largest market, accounting for just over one in five reservations. Germans followed in third place.

Couples made up the majority of bookings, while breaks lasting between two and five nights proved to be the most popular choice, reflecting the continued appeal of short Mediterranean escapes.

International arrivals remain buoyant

There was further encouragement for Mallorca’s tourism sector with separate figures from Turespaña showing the Balearic Islands welcomed 2.3 million international air passengers in June, more than any other Spanish region. The islands attracted almost 21 per cent of all international arrivals into Spain, underlining their importance as one of Europe’s leading summer destinations. Across Spain, international air arrivals rose by 4 per cent year on year.

Although booking momentum has eased slightly from the previous week, the latest figures point to another healthy summer for Mallorca and the wider Balearics, with British holidaymakers continuing to be one of the driving forces behind the islands’ tourism success.
