Summer nights in Benitachell are set to get much more entertaining as the annual Cine al Carrer (Cinema in the Street) cycle returns in August. Organised by the local council, the popular open-air film event will offer residents and summer visitors free outdoor screenings every Wednesday evening throughout the month, turning the warm summer nights into a shared community experience.
Free outdoor cinema returns for August
The screenings take place in the central Plaça de les Pesqueres, located just in front of the Centre Social, creating a relaxed, family-friendly gathering spot under a blanket of stars. Providing refreshing evening entertainment during the warmest month of the year and respite from the heat of the day, the summer cinema cycle features a varied selection of mainstream films suitable for audiences of all ages.
What is showing this month
On August 5, the event will kick off with a screening of Sonic 3. The following Wednesday, the event continues with a screening of How to Train Your Dragon. On Wednesday, August 19, the screening will feature the Valencian version of Elio. Finally, the event wraps up with a screening of Voy a pasármelo mejor.
Event details and practical information
Open-air cinema has long been a staple of Mediterranean summer culture, and Benitachell’s summer programme continues to build on this beloved and long-awaited tradition. By turning one of the town’s key public squares into a temporary outdoor picture house, this project encourages neighbours, families, and tourists to come together and enjoy the cooler night air after a day at the nearby coastal coves, enjoying a night of cinema under the stars.
Screenings will take place every Wednesday in August, starting in the late evening at 10:00pm once the sun has fully set. Admission is completely free of charge, with open seating arranged on a first-come, first-served basis. Organisers encourage attendees to arrive early to secure a good spot in the square. Whether you are a local resident looking for a midweek outing or a holidaymaker wanting to experience authentic village life, Cine al Carrer offers a charming and cost-free way to make the most of Benitachell’s August evenings.
