Stunning contemporary dance show ‘Dummies’ comes to Javea this August

An artistic, open-air treat in Javea is preparing to blow culture and dance enthusiasts away. The award-winning contemporary dance piece, “Dummies”, is arriving at the David Ferrer Tennis Player Promenade at Playa Arenal in the municipality, a performance that will be completely free to the public and offer locals and visitors the unique opportunity to experience high-calibre performing arts in the charming Mediterranean coastal town.

Taking place on Saturday, August 15 at 9:00pm, this 21-minute performance is organised as part of the ManIAC Fest 2026 and was specifically crafted for urban environments, transforming public promenades, squares, and streets into dynamic, open stages. Created through a collaboration between the Javea Town Council and the Institut Alacantí de Cultura Juan Gil-Albert, the event will bring the art of contemporary dance to these public spaces.

Bringing open-air performing arts to public spaces

The actual show is a duet that delves deep into the theme of human connection. Through an expressive, vulnerable, and physically demanding performance, the talented dancers will navigate themes of discovery, frustration, imperfection, and the search for balance between two meeting bodies.

World-class choreography and stunning international dancers on stage

The production is led by Wako Danza, an interdisciplinary company founded by acclaimed Chilean choreographer and dancer Eduardo Zúñiga. Zúñiga boasts an international career spanning top global companies, including the Bolshoi Ballet and the Chilean National Ballet. His choreography has earned major international accolades, including the Gold Medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition and the Silver Medal in Beijing.

Joining Zúñiga on stage is Eduard Turull Montells, an accomplished performer with more than 19 years of professional experience across notable ensembles such as IT Dansa and Batsheva Ensemble. Turull Montells also contributes extensively to therapeutic dance research, working alongside institutions like the Parkinson’s Institute of Freiburg.
