Time for a dance in Fuengirola who will have a free night of live entertainment to look forward to this Saturday, August 15, when The Whisky Piskys take to the stage at the town’s newly reopened Plaza de Toros. The trio will perform at the former bullring from 9pm, with entry completely free.

The Whisky Piskys are made up of three members of international Celtic fusion band The Stolen Gnomes: Seita, Mick and Damian , bringing together vocals, flute, accordion, whistle, harmonica, saxophone, bodhran, mandolin, guitars, banjo and bass.

Their music draws on Celtic and Irish traditions while adding influences from soul, blues and popular music, making for a lively sound with plenty of variety.

International band with impressive musical history

The trio’s parent band, The Stolen Gnomes, was formed in 2010 and is based near Malaga. Over the years, the international six-piece has played concerts, festivals and events across Europe. Previous performances have seen the band share bills with well-known names including Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and Finbar Furey. They have also performed on stage with Nathan Carter and provided backing for two principal Irish dancers from Lord of the Dance.

That international experience promises a lively evening when The Whisky Piskys bring their music to one of Fuengirola’s best-known landmarks.

The Plaza de Toros, which dates back to 1962, has been given a new lease of life as a venue for concerts, cultural events and other entertainment.

Another chance to see The Stolen Gnomes

Anyone who enjoys Saturday night’s performance can catch the musicians again a few days later, when The Stolen Gnomes perform as a six-piece at Noche de Folk in La Cala de Mijas.

That concert takes place on Wednesday, August 19, at the Plaza del Torreon from 10pm and is also free.

The Mijas Ayuntamiento-sponsored event will also feature Irish Treble, a Celtic music and traditional dance band from Madrid.
