Magaluf gears up for huge three-day summer fiesta with live music, 80s party and foam fun

Magaluf is preparing to swap its famous nightlife for a weekend of traditional celebrations, family entertainment and dancing as the resort’s summer fiestas return for three action-packed days.

The Fiestas de Verano de Magaluf will run from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16, with most of the action centred around the public park on Calle Lope de Vega.

Calvià Council has unveiled a packed programme combining Mallorcan and Andalusian traditions with comedy, live music, DJs, children’s entertainment and outdoor dining.

Andalusian party kicks off celebrations

Friday gets the festivities underway with an Andalusian-themed evening from 7pm.

Youngsters can try their hand at activities including decorating fans and making badges, while the Casa de Andalucía will bring a taste of southern Spain to Mallorca with a dance performance from 7.30pm.

An outdoor dinner follows at 8.30pm, with members of Magaluf’s senior citizens’ community invited to join the celebrations and a bar operating during the evening.

One of Friday’s headline attractions will be well-known Balearic comedian Agustín “El Casta”, who takes to the stage at 9pm. Music then takes over, with Isla Graná performing from 10.30pm before a Gipsy Kings tribute keeps the party going from 12.30am.

The evening will also retain an important traditional element. At 7pm, Magaluf church will host a Mass in honour of the town’s patron saint, Our Lady of the Assumption, including a floral offering, traditional ball de bot and refreshments.

Magaluf goes back to the 80s

Saturday promises a complete change of atmosphere as Magaluf turns back the clock for an Eighties-themed fiesta.

From 6pm, families can enjoy retro-inspired games and activities, including hopscotch, musical chairs, egg-and-spoon racing, painting, a photocall and other children’s entertainment.

There will be another outdoor dinner at 8.30pm before DJs take control. Charlie Eme starts at 9pm, followed by Juan Campos at 11pm and another DJ session from 1am. Visitors are being encouraged to embrace the theme and arrive dressed in their best 1980s-inspired outfits.

Saturday will also feature the sixth motorcycle ride through Calvià in memory of Roberto Pons, organised by Moto Club Calvià and Moto Team Pajareros with support from the Institut Calvianer d’Esports.

Foam party finale for families

Sunday brings the weekend to a family-friendly close.

Water inflatables and aquatic fun begin at 5pm, offering youngsters a chance to cool down during the August heat.

At 7pm, the park will be transformed for a children’s foam party, before Alma Flamenca takes to the stage with a dance performance at 8pm.

The three-day celebration is organised by Calvià Council through its Events Service, with the programme scheduled to finish at 10pm on Sunday, August 16.

From traditional Mallorcan dancing to flamenco, comedy, retro DJs and foam-filled fun, this year’s fiestas promise to show a very different side to one of Mallorca’s best-known resorts.
