Mallorca village gears up for huge summer fiesta finale with live music and family fun

A Mallorca village is preparing to bring its summer celebrations to a spectacular close this Saturday, August 22, with a big night of live music, dancing and festivities expected to draw crowds to Es Pla de na Tesa.

The Marratxí village has been celebrating its annual Festes d’Estiu throughout August, but Saturday is the date to circle in the diary as the community comes together for the final night.

After almost two weeks of activities, sport, food and entertainment, the celebrations will culminate with a musical finale featuring Salto Eléctrico, Bambols and Eugesh.

Saturday night takes centre stage

The final Saturday is set to deliver the party atmosphere that Mallorca’s village fiestas have become famous for during the summer months.

Live music will take centre stage as residents, families, groups of friends and visitors gather in Es Pla de na Tesa to see out another edition of the Festes d’Estiu.

Three acts are lined up for the night, with Salto Eléctrico, Bambols and Eugesh providing the soundtrack to the closing celebrations.

The event offers an alternative to Mallorca’s familiar beach clubs and tourist resorts, giving visitors the chance to experience the atmosphere of a traditional local summer fiesta just outside Palma.

Es Pla de na Tesa belongs to the municipality of Marratxí and its annual festivities are one of numerous festes populars taking place across the island during the height of summer.

A summer tradition in Mallorca

The Saturday night finale comes at the end of a packed programme that began on August 10 and has brought the village together for almost two weeks.

This year’s festivities have included community dinners, children’s activities, workshops, sporting events and live entertainment, alongside the XVIII Cursa Popular Pla de na Tesa.

The village even became part of Mallorca’s historic eclipse celebrations, with Son Bonet hosting a public viewing point for the total solar eclipse on August 12.

Now attention turns firmly to the final Saturday night.

One last summer party

Mallorca’s village fiestas are an important part of island life, particularly during July and August, when streets and squares across the island fill with outdoor dinners, concerts, dancing and celebrations stretching late into the warm summer evenings.
