Places filling fast for second Mijas charity golf day against cancer

Golfers keen to back local cancer support have only a short window left to sign up for the second year of the Torneo de Golf Contra el Cancer. Around 70 per cent of the places are already taken for the event on Saturday, August 29 at La Cala Resort in Mijas.

A share of every entry fee goes straight to the local branch of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC). That money helps fund research and the free services patients and families in the municipality already rely on.

How local support works in practice

Last year the Mijas AECC team reached almost 100 people and delivered 270 sessions of specialist psychological care, social guidance or oncology physiotherapy. Council funding and private backing keep those services running, including at the association’s newer local base.

What the day will look like

Play starts at 9am with a shotgun start on the Campo Europa course. Format is Pareja Mejor Bola Stableford. Entry covers the 18-hole green fee, shared buggy, welcome pack, lunch and prize-giving. Everyone also goes into a big charity raffle packed with gifts from local firms. Trophies and the raffle draw wrap up the afternoon.
