Calpe sports hub set for comeback after major makeover

Sports clubs, school groups and hundreds of residents in Calpe will soon have access once again to one of the town’s key sporting venues, with the long-awaited reopening of the Ifac Pavilion now officially in sight.

After months of extensive renovation work, Calpe Town Council has confirmed that the indoor sports hall is expected to reopen on 15 September, marking the end of a major refurbishment project designed to modernise the ageing facility and improve the experience for athletes and visitors alike.

Modern facilities for local sport

The works have transformed much of the pavilion, with improvements made throughout the building rather than simply carrying out cosmetic repairs. The renovation includes upgraded changing rooms, improved accessibility, new sports flooring, better lighting and energy-efficient systems, alongside structural improvements intended to extend the life of the venue.

The refurbishment forms part of Calpe’s wider investment in public sports infrastructure, with the council aiming to provide facilities that meet modern standards while encouraging greater participation in physical activity across all age groups.

Busy calendar expected

The reopening is expected to bring a busy programme of activity almost immediately. Local basketball, futsal, volleyball and handball clubs are preparing to return to their regular training schedules, while schools will once again be able to use the indoor space for physical education and sporting events.
