Marbella is getting ready for four days of free activities designed to help residents and visitors look after their physical and mental wellbeing.

World Wellness Weekend will take place from Thursday, September 17, until Sunday, September 20, with more than 50 activities planned across Marbella, Nueva Andalucia and San Pedro Alcantara. The international event brings wellness activities to communities around the world, with this year’s programme taking place in 190 countries.

Activities in Marbella will include exercise, yoga, Pilates, meditation, massages, dance, family entertainment and lifestyle sessions, giving people plenty of ways to get involved without paying an entry fee.

Family fun in Nueva Andalucia

Nueva Andalucia will have its own programme at the Centro Polivalente, starting on Wednesday, September 16, with a 7pm workshop on stress management and the Método Macura, led by therapist Mar Martin.

Friday, September 18, will bring a family afternoon from 5pm, with a children’s treasure hunt, another edition of MasterChef Junior, dancing, Zumba and a musical charity bingo.

Money raised through the activities will go to CADI, an organisation supporting children with diverse needs. World Wellness Weekend has worked with CADI for several years, making the Marbella programme about community support as well as personal wellbeing.

World Wellness Weekend founder visits Marbella

Jean-Guy de Gabriac, founder of World Wellness Weekend, will also visit Marbella during the event’s 10th anniversary year. His appearance will form part of Friday’s family programme in Nueva Andalucia.

Saturday’s activities will move to the Paseo de la Alameda, with options including a healthy walk, Pilates, massages, boxing, music and a craft market. Sunday will bring yoga, Pilates, meditation, Tibetan singing bowls, massages and tai chi to the Paseo Maritimo in San Pedro Alcantara.

Costa del Sol residents can also take part in the Wellness Fair organised by Selina Mackenzie’s Not Just A Marbella Girl community at Gastro House Julia by JC in Benavista on Friday, September 18, adding another local event to the World Wellness Weekend programme.
