Runners and walkers will take to the streets of Rojales on Saturday, September 26, for the 23rd Villa de Rojales race, with several distances and categories available.
The annual event includes 10K and 5K races alongside a Nordic walking competition, while younger runners will have their own events earlier in the afternoon. Both the start and finish will be at Malecon del Soto.
Runners can choose between 5K and 10K distances at the Villa de Rojales race
The inclusion of both 5K and 10K distances gives participants the opportunity to choose a challenge suited to their experience and fitness.
The adult programme begins at 7:00 PM, bringing competitors and spectators together at Malecon del Soto, one of the town’s familiar public spaces.
The annual race is organised by Rojales Town Hall, which is encouraging anyone interested in participating to register soon because the number of available places is limited.
With two running distances on offer, the event is designed to accommodate a wider range of participants rather than focusing solely on experienced distance runners.
Nordic walking competition adds another way to take part in the Rojales event
Those who prefer walking to running will also be able to compete, with Nordic walking forming part of the programme.
The competition will be supervised by judges from the Spanish Mountain and Climbing Sports Federation.
Nordic walking provides an alternative for participants who want to tackle the event at a fast walking pace, adding another discipline to the traditional running programme.
The different categories help make the Villa de Rojales a broader sporting occasion, with opportunities for runners, walkers and younger participants.
Children’s races begin at 5:00 PM before the main adult programme starts
Younger runners will take centre stage first, with children’s races beginning at 5:00 PM.
The main adult programme follows at 7:00 PM, with Malecon del Soto serving as both the start and finish area throughout the event.
Including dedicated children’s races means the afternoon is designed to involve different ages and encourage younger participants to experience organised competition.
Registration for the 23rd Villa de Rojales is being handled through ChipLevante, with places limited.
The event takes place on Saturday, September 26, with children’s races from 5:00 PM and the 5K, 10K and Nordic walking programme beginning at 7:00 PM.
