Pedreguer fills with music as 110 musicians reunite for 75th anniversary celebration

Pedreguer was filled with music and emotion last weekend as 110 musicians reunited to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Centre Artístic Musical de Pedreguer.

The special celebration took place on Saturday, September 26, as part of the Trobada de Bandes de la Marina Alta 2026, bringing together musical groups from across the comarca for an afternoon of performances, parades and tributes.

The anniversary event had been expected to attract 22 musical associations and almost 1,000 participants from across the Marina Alta.

A special reunion in Pedreguer

For the musicians of Pedreguer, the occasion was particularly personal.

A total of 110 musicians took part in the town’s celebration, with former members and musicians returning to join the band once again.

The reunion brought together people with years of shared memories, friendships and experiences, creating an emotional return to the streets where many had first discovered their love of music.

The parade began at around 6pm, following the gathering of the participating bands at Parc del Patronat. The route then made its way through Pedreguer before reaching the plaça Major.

A tribute to musicians who are no longer here

One of the most poignant moments came as the Pedreguer musicians performed El Fesolet, a pasodoble by Miquel Ibiza.

The piece was chosen as a tribute to musicians who had passed away, ensuring that they were also remembered as part of the historic anniversary celebration.

The procession continued with Música i Festa, composed by Marcos Ventura especially for the occasion.

The piece accompanied the musicians as they made their entrance into the plaça Major, marking another memorable moment in a day designed to celebrate both the history and future of music in Pedreguer.

New pasodoble marks 75 years

The musical programme culminated with Sons d’un poble, a new pasodoble composed by Blai Ibiza specifically for the celebration and the 75th anniversary of the Centre Artístic Musical de Pedreguer.

The piece was performed by the assembled musicians and conducted by Merche Femenia Simó.

It formed part of the wider Trobada de Bandes programme, which brought together musical organisations ranging from younger groups to some of the Marina Alta’s longest-established bands.

The event also featured a celebration meal following the institutional ceremony, with activities continuing in plaça de l’Amistat and carrer Mestre Serrano before a performance by Orquesta Tokyo.

A celebration shared by the whole town

The Centre Artístic Musical de Pedreguer thanked the Ajuntament de Pedreguer, the Federació de Societats Musicals de la Comunitat Valenciana, local businesses, sponsors, families and residents for helping make the anniversary possible.

The musicians also thanked the people of Pedreguer for turning out to support the celebrations, as well as the bands from across the Marina Alta that joined the event.

After 75 years of music, the weekend provided a powerful reminder of the role that bands continue to play in the cultural life of towns across the region.

For Pedreguer, it was also a chance to look back at generations of musicians who have helped shape its musical identity, while bringing them together once more for a day that will remain part of the band’s history.
