Thousands of people filled the streets of Gandia on Sunday, October 4, as the city enjoyed another packed day of its annual Fira i Festes 2026, with everything from traditional sport and live music to street theatre, markets and spectacular fire displays.
The celebrations brought a colourful mix of culture and entertainment to the city, with activities taking place from the morning through to the early hours of Monday.
Something for everyone
Sunday’s programme got underway early, with a special fishing competition taking place at the Port of Gandia, while classic car enthusiasts gathered on Calle Sant Francesc de Borja to admire a display organised by the Club Automobilismo Gandia.
Traditional Valencian culture was also firmly on the programme, with an inclusive game of raspall, the region’s traditional ball sport, held with the Fundació Espurna.
The morning also offered family-friendly activities, including a free guided visit to the Gandia Archaeological Museum followed by a children’s workshop.
Meanwhile, the city’s fairground at Parc d’Ausiàs March provided rides and attractions throughout the day, giving families another popular destination during the celebrations.
Markets, music and street entertainment
Gandia’s streets continued to draw crowds as the day progressed, with the city’s Fira markets adding another traditional element to the celebrations.
Music was also at the heart of the programme, with live performances continuing into the evening and thousands gathering for the final night of concerts at the Parc de la Festa.
The headline acts on Sunday included Cali y El Dandee, Lara Taylor and Orquesta Montecarlo, with the free outdoor concerts providing one of the major draws of the evening.
The combination of live music, food, markets and street entertainment helped create the festival atmosphere that took over the city throughout the weekend.
Fire brings a spectacular finale
One of the most dramatic moments came during the early hours of Monday morning with the traditional correfoc.
The spectacular fire event was led by the Dimonis Rafolins from l’Alqueria d’Asnar and featured fire, percussion, traditional instruments and costumed figures making their way through the streets.
The procession travelled from the Paseo de les Germanies towards the Plaza de Crist Rei, ending with a final fireworks display.
It provided a spectacular late-night conclusion to Sunday’s celebrations, with the streets once again filled with people watching the fiery performance.
Fira i Festes continues
The celebrations continued on Monday, October 5, with another programme of events planned across Gandia.
Among the highlights is a mascletà at 2pm on Avenida Marqués de Campo, followed this evening by the traditional procession in honour of Sant Francesc de Borja.
The procession will leave the Insigne Colegiata and pass through the historic centre, accompanied by dances from the Grup de Danses Rebombori.
The Fira i Festes will then came to a spectacular close with a final pyrotechnic display.
With four days of concerts, traditional celebrations, theatre, markets, family activities and spectacular street events, the 2026 Fira i Festes has once again turned Gandia into a major centre of celebration, attracting thousands of residents and visitors to the city.
