Half a thousand pretzels, a mystery recipient and a weekend of big beers, loud music and lots of dancing. The Axarquia’s October diary is one to watch this month, and one to wear your stretchiest trousers.
Seventh Brezelfest returns on October 11
Popular local eatery Wolfgang & Karina’s Backstübel, at Avenida Mediterráneo 2, warmly opens its doors from 12am until 9pm on Sunday, October 11 for the seventh edition of its much-loved Brezelfest. Torrox town hall is funding a huge 500 pretzels this year and Wolfgang and Karina will bake every delicious, golden fluffy one from scratch ready to be sold on the day.
Every cent raised goes to a local charitable organisation, yet to be confirmed. The chosen charity will be revealed at the party by DJ uuw, who has kept spirits high at the Backstübel for years and years, with Moosi joining him on the decks to keep you entertained the entire afternoon.
Pink or yellow which is your colour? T-shirts help children with cancer
A second fundraiser will also be running separately alongside the pretzel sales. Special Brezelfest T-shirts cost €12.50 and come in a choice of vibrant pink or yellow, with part of every sale going to help children living with cancer. Shirts can be bought in advance at the Backstübel venue, and tables can be reserved for anyone planning a long afternoon to take in the atmosphere in comfort.
Torre del Mar holds its Oktoberfest
Down the coast Torre del Mar adds its own piece of bavarian style with its beer fiesta on October 10 and 11, starting at 1pm each day. Live music and dance performances are the main attractions, as in previous years. Anyone planning a double-header could begin there on Saturday and finish with a Backstübel pretzel on Sunday.
For more information on the Torre del Mar beer festival you can visit the town hall website and for the Brezelfest visit the venue Facebook page.
