A major transformation of Jávea’s port is now under way, with a new elevated car park set to more than triple the number of parking spaces and a panoramic viewpoint planned above it.

The first works on the new parking facility have started as part of an almost €6 million project to modernise and improve the port and Club Náutico area.

The scheme was inspected on Tuesday, October 6, by Generalitat Valenciana president Juanfran Pérez Llorca, alongside Jávea mayor Rosa Cardona and regional infrastructure chief Vicente Martínez Mus.

Parking capacity more than triples

One of the most significant changes will be the new elevated car park, which will increase capacity from the current 40 spaces to 134.

That means 94 additional spaces will be created, more than tripling the amount of parking currently available at the port.

The expansion is intended to make the area easier to access for people using the marina and port facilities, while also improving how the surrounding space operates for residents and visitors.

Parking can be particularly difficult around Jávea’s port during busy periods, making the additional capacity one of the most practical elements of the redevelopment.

New panoramic viewpoint planned

The new building is designed to be more than simply a place to leave a car.

Plans call for a stepped structure incorporating natural stone, landscaped terraces and native plant species. At the top, a panoramic viewpoint will create a new public space overlooking the port.

The Generalitat says the lookout will provide a place for people to stop and enjoy the views while strengthening the connection between the waterfront and the town.

The design aims to ensure that the new structure fits into the existing character of the port rather than functioning solely as a parking facility.

Wider port improvements

The car park forms part of a much broader programme of works covering the port and Club Náutico.

The project has a budget of close to €6 million and is expected to take around 15 months to complete.

As well as the parking development, the scheme includes improvements to the port’s infrastructure, including pontoons, moorings and quays.

Some of the work on the new pontoons and public moorings has already been completed, while other elements of the wider redevelopment continue.

Safety and accessibility are also being addressed as part of the project, with the aim of creating a more functional environment for those using the port.

A major change for Jávea’s waterfront

The redevelopment is expected to significantly alter the appearance and practical use of one of Jávea’s best-known areas.

For drivers, the biggest change will be the additional 94 parking spaces. For pedestrians and visitors, the new landscaped building and panoramic viewpoint will introduce a new public-facing element to the waterfront.

With construction now under way and a 15-month completion period planned, the port is set for a substantial makeover over the coming year.
