A family padel tournament brought sport and solidarity together in Mazarron on Saturday, October 17, raising support and funds for local association ANITEMA through a day of activities that brought generations together under one common goal. The benefiting charity focuses on offering support and resources for parents of children with ADHD or other neurodevelopmental or behavioural disorders.
A family tournament with a charitable purpose
The event, held at the municipal padel courts beside CEIP Ginés García, ran from 9:00am to 7:00pm with the collaboration of Mazarrón Town Council. Under the slogan “Together for a More United Mazarron’, the initiative was a fun-filled padel extravaganza, with a charitable heart.
Padel for players of all abilities
In the tournament, pairs consisting of one adult and one child under the age of 14 participated. Players competed across two categories: beginners and intermediate players, and each pair was guaranteed a minimum of three matches. The tournament was family-friendly and had flexible rules, so even those with little padel experience felt welcome to join in on the fun.
Games, prizes and refreshments for families
The padel matches were only one part of the programme, with organisers also providing alternative games, prizes and a refreshment stand for visitors to enjoy.
Helping a local charity carry out vital work on the Costa Calida
The tournament’s proceeds, which were €10 per participant, went towards ANITEMA, an organisation whose work in the Mazarron area was at the centre of the initiative. Bringing adults and children together through sport, the event not only strengthened community ties and made for a fun weekend activity, it also raised vital support for the association.
With its combination of family participation, friendly competition and focused fundraising, the event promoted a message of community spirit, encouraging residents to help build a more united Mazarron through sport and solidarity.
