Remembering loved ones should never be a struggle, and Estepona is making the trip to the cemetery easier this All Saints’ Day weekend by laying on free buses.

Estepona town hall has confirmed that its free bus service to the town’s two cemeteries returns on October 30 and 31 and November 1. With the dates falling on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday this year, you can pick whichever day suits you best.

Free bus times

Each day brings eight outbound and eight return journeys, with identical timetables on all three dates.

Outbound:

– Morning: 9am, 10am, 11am, noon and 1pm
– Afternoon: 4pm, 5pm and 6pm

Return:

– Morning: 9.30am, 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm
– Afternoon: 4.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm

Where the bus goes

Departures start at the stop beside the old cemetery on Avenida Andalucia. Buses follow the route of urban line L1 as far as the Acuarela stationery shop on the same avenue They then pass the front of the new town hall and carry on uphill to the Santo Cristo de la Veracruz cemetery.

According to the town hall, residents can use the service to reach either of Estepona’s two cemeteries.

Longer cemetery opening hours

Both cemeteries are extending their hours for the occasion:

– October 29 and 30 and November 2: 9am to 8pm
– October 31 and November 1: 9am to 9pm

Only the bus is limited to the three dates above, so it will not run on 29 October or 2 November. The town hall has also carried out improvement work at both cemeteries and on the access routes as part of its annual All Saints’ plan.

A tradition worth sharing

Todos los Santos (All Saints’ Day) falls on November 1. Across Spain, it is when families traditionally visit the graves of relatives and friends, often bringing fresh flowers. You can read more about the traditions here as previously reported by EWN.

Anyone with questions about a particular journey can check the Estepona town hall website or Facebook page directly.
