Generous local residents turned out in impressive numbers at the beautiful Spill the Tea Cafe inside Yorkshire Linen Warehouse on Saturday, October 31, proving once again how tight-knit and compassionate the Costa del Sol expat community truly is.

Organised to support Macmillan Cancer Support, the morning gathered neighbours, friends, and families for hot drinks, sweet treats, and bubbly conversation. Supporters arrived eager to donate, chat, and tuck into delicious home-baked creation to support the wonderful charity.

Sweet treats and solidarity raise €535 in three hours

Baking enthusiasts went above and beyond for the gathering, filling tables with homemade cakes and creations offered at €2 a slice along with savoury sausage rolls for just €1. Visitors flooded through the doors from 10am, contributing generously throughout the three-hour event.

By the time the final teacups were cleared, organisers announced an impressive total of €535 collected within just three hours, directly for the charity. Every single cent raised goes towards vital assistance, emotional guidance, and practical help for individuals and families affected by cancer.

It wasn’t just about raising money. The morning provided a safe, supportive space for attendees to connect, with many visitors sharing personal experiences as cancer survivors or spoke openly about loved ones who fought the disease.

Event hosts and attendees took to social media to express heartfelt gratitude, praising the community for showing up in force and supplying such high-quality baked goods. Organisers also ensured the morning remained respectful by observing Spain’s official three-day national mourning period, asking guests to refrain from wearing fancy dress or Halloween costumes.

Building on a powerful legacy of charity across Spain

This successful gathering adds another brilliant chapter to local fundraising efforts across the local area. Expat communities regularly show incredible dedication to cancer care initiatives, this event followed in the footsteps of the successful morning in September also held in Mijas where a record breaking amount was raised for the popular charity.

Organisers are already looking forward to planning future charity events, keeping this wonderful spirit of community giving alive on the Costa del Sol.
