Families in Ondara have until November 20 to apply for a share of €99,000 in local authority grants designed to ease household costs, support renters and make children’s sport more affordable.
The Ajuntament de Ondara has opened three separate funding schemes, targeting residents facing financial pressures linked to housing and families looking to keep their children involved in local sporting activities.
Applications opened on November 2, with the funding divided between help with property-related bills, rental costs and grassroots sport.
Help with household bills
The largest allocation is €64,000, set aside to help eligible homeowners with their 2026 property tax (IBI) and rubbish collection charges.
The scheme is aimed at lower-income households and offers a maximum payment of €200 per family. This is divided into up to €170 towards IBI and €30 towards waste collection fees.
Applicants must own and be registered at their main residence in Ondara. The property must have a cadastral value of no more than €90,000, and applicants must meet the council’s income requirements.
They must also have paid the relevant bills to qualify.
Renters could receive €600
A further €30,000 has been allocated to rental assistance, with eligible households able to receive up to €600.
Applicants must be adults or legally emancipated, have a rental contract for a property in Ondara and have been registered as residents in the municipality for at least two years.
The property must be their permanent home and monthly rent cannot exceed €800.
The scheme also takes account of particular family and social circumstances, including single-parent and large families, households with children, people with disabilities, older residents living alone and victims of gender-based violence.
The grant cannot exceed the rent actually paid during 2026.
Support for young athletes
The final €5,000 will help children and teenagers aged 18 or under participate in organised sport during the 2026-2027 season.
Eligible young residents registered with participating local sports clubs or associations can receive €50 towards expenses such as membership fees, training charges and sporting licences.
Families must also satisfy the income conditions set out in the scheme. If applications exceed the available funding, payments will be adjusted proportionally.
How to apply
All three schemes have the same application deadline: November 20, 2026.
Residents can consult the full eligibility requirements and required paperwork through the Ajuntament de Ondara’s electronic office. The combined funding represents an effort to address some of the everyday financial pressures facing local families, while encouraging younger residents to remain active in community sport.
