LOCAL artist Fran Fajardo has gone viral, his most recent mural attracting the eye of thousands of online viewers and bringing attention to the beautiful artwork that decorates much of Levante Almeria.
Albox artists turns passion into a career
Fran has been painting since he was a young child, and in recent years has turned his life-long passion into a full-time job through his brand My Name is Fran. Since moving to Albox, Fran has cultivated a stellar reputation and a strong online following. He’s the go-to guy for beautiful creations, from pretty floral designs to life-like portraits and detailed landscapes.
Euro Weekly News has previously covered some of My Name is Fran’s work, including the Pets Paradise pet shop design and the mesmerising Mojacar murals that bring gangster flamingos to life.
Those who live in Almeria may be familiar with Fran’s work without even realising it. His hand-painted murals can be found in private homes and public spaces across Almeria, bringing a smile to the faces of everyone who comes across them.
His most recent creation certainly made a few thousand people happy.
Bougainvillea mural goes viral
In October, Fran completed a bougainvillea mural at a private home in Albox. The piece is strikingly life-like. Passers-by would be forgiven for thinking a real-life plant was wrapped around the villa. His client adored the piece so much she posted pictures to social media, wanting to share her new wall-art with friends and family.
But the post quickly broke containment. Within 48 hours it had garnered over 100,000 views.
Fran was blown away by the response, and was even more taken aback by the enquiries that flooded his inbox. Around forty people from across Spain reached out about potential commissions. A few international residents even asked if he’d be able to travel abroad to paint a piece.
Fran Fajardo looks ahead to future projects
Fran has achieved a number of firsts in his art career this year, including painting a complex geometric dome in Mojacar, but it would seem there are many more opportunities to come in the future.
With his talent now attracting attention well beyond Almeria, Fran’s future looks brighter than ever. As more people discover his work, there are sure to be plenty of exciting projects on the horizon.
