From traditional Vega Baja food and festive fashion to Christmas raffles and a night at the races, Costa Blanca charities have plenty planned this November. Five fundraising events across Torrevieja, Pinar de Campoverde, Ciudad Quesada, La Marina and Torre de Horadada will give residents the chance to enjoy a day or evening out while supporting causes ranging from animal rescue and cancer charities to local Scouts and international development projects.
November 14: Torrevieja pelota fundraiser supports Rwanda
Foodies can tuck into one of Torrevieja’s traditional favourites this month while raising money for a local charity working in Rwanda.
The Pelota Solidaria fundraiser takes place on Saturday, November 14, when visitors can enjoy a traditional pelota (meatball) with a drink for just €5.
The event will run from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM at Carnicas Rios in the Casa Grande Business Park in Torrevieja.
Proceeds will go to Nueva Fraternidad, a Torrevieja-based NGO with a long history of supporting communities in Rwanda.
Pelotas are a familiar part of traditional Vega Baja cooking, particularly in hearty stew dishes. Usually made with seasoned minced meat and other ingredients, the meatballs are closely associated with the area’s home cooking and festive meals.
Nueva Fraternidad was founded in Torrevieja in 1994 and concentrates its work on development projects in Rwanda.
Its projects have included building and renovating schools, constructing homes for families in need and providing educational opportunities for children.
The charity has also developed agricultural and livestock projects aimed at helping families and communities become more self-sufficient.
Among its largest projects is a school in Rukara with capacity for around 2,500 pupils.
November 18: Party fashion supports cancer charity
Party season is approaching, and the AACC Cancer Charity Shop in Pinar de Campoverde is helping shoppers find something with a little extra sparkle.
The shop is holding an Evening of Party Frocks & Pizzazz on Wednesday, November 18, from 4:00 PM, with everyone welcome to browse its selection of pre-loved fashion.
Party dresses, evening wear and accessories will be available, giving shoppers the chance to pick up an outfit ahead of Christmas and New Year while supporting the cancer charity.
Visitors will receive a glass of wine on arrival, while homemade cakes by Maria will also be on sale.
The event is being held in association with IMED Hospitals and aims to combine festive shopping with fundraising for AACC.
The charity shop is located on Avenida de las Especias in Pinar de Campoverde.

November 21: Musical fashion show helps rescued horses
Fashion, music and plenty of prizes are coming together in Ciudad Quesada for an afternoon supporting Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre.
The Club in Quesada will host its Musical Fashion Show on Saturday, November 21, with doors opening at 1:00 PM and entertainment beginning at 2:00 PM.
Entry is free, although booking a table in advance is essential.
Visitors can expect a fashion show, live music, musical games and a large charity raffle, with food also available throughout the afternoon.
The fundraiser will support Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre in Rojales, founded by British expats Sue and Rod Weeding in 2008 after they rescued a severely neglected horse.
Since then, the centre has grown into a permanent sanctuary for more than 120 rescued horses, ponies and donkeys that have suffered abuse, neglect or abandonment.
The charity relies heavily on public support, fundraising, sponsorship and its charity shops to help meet the continuing cost of feeding and caring for the animals.

The Club is at Calle Toledo 24, Ciudad Quesada. To reserve a table, call or WhatsApp (+34) 711 076 139.
November 22: La Marina Christmas raffle offers prizes
Christmas is coming early to La Marina as AAN Charity Shop launches its festive raffle, with plenty of prizes up for grabs while raising money for a good cause.
Tickets are now on sale at the charity shop, with the draw taking place on Sunday, November 22.
Among the prizes is an Iceland gift voucher, which could come in particularly handy with the Christmas food shop looming.
There will also be a spirits hamper, wine hamper and a traditional panettone, along with a selection of other goodies. The hampers will include chocolates, biscuits and other treats.
Tickets cost €2 for one strip or €5 for three strips and can be purchased directly from the AAN Charity Shop.
Money raised will support AAN’s work helping people in need across San Fulgencio and La Marina urbanisation.
The organisation relies on fundraising, donations and support from the local community to continue helping residents who may be going through difficult times.
AAN Charity Shop is located at Plaza Sierra Castilla 42 in La Marina urbanisation.

November 28: Charity horse racing supports local Scouts
Racing fans can back a winner without leaving the area when La Briza Nordica hosts a charity horse racing night in aid of local Scouts.
The Nordic Breeze bar will stage the fundraiser on Saturday, November 28, with meals served from 6:00 PM before the first race gets underway at 7:00 PM.
Tickets cost €15 and include all eight races, which will be shown on multiple screens around the venue, as well as a meal.
Diners can choose from chicken curry, pie with chips and peas, meat or vegetarian lasagne with chips, or meatballs and potatoes. Guests are asked to give their meal choices when booking.
Throughout the evening, racegoers will be able to predict the winners and compete for fun prizes, with money raised going towards supporting local Scouts.
La Briza Nordica is at Calle Mar Balticos 6, Torre de Horadada.
Advance booking is required. To reserve places, WhatsApp (+34) 722 349 121 and include the names of everyone attending along with their chosen meals.
