Drugs traffickers’ TVs given to local charities

ALICANTE – PLASMA televisions – and other tech items – seized from convicted drug traffickers will be donated to various charities, homeless shelters and senior citizen centres in Alicante Province. In National Police and Guardia Civil warehouses there are “so many” plasma TVs and mobile phones, according to Alicante Provincial High Court president, Vicente Magro.

This pioneering initiative in Spain aims to make good use at last of seized goods that accumulate in the warehouses of the National Police and Guardia Civil that are not subject to public auction.

“During the crisis, when more than ever there is a lack of economic resources, this will help the social welfare associations and charities to improve the services they already provide.”

From now on, the Provincial High Court will prepare a list of associations and groups – including Caritas and Proyecto Hombre – who will receive goods that have been approved by the National Police and Guardia Civil.
