The vests are to be distributed amongst 211 unit between now and 2015.
The vests cover the chest, back and sides and include a special model for women as well as an outsize version.
Designed to last at least 10 years, they have undergone tests to assess their weight, thickness and flexibility.
They were also tried out with different types of firearms as well as knives and steel punches.
This type of body amour is now vital for police and enables them to deal with violent crime, said Spain’s most senior police chief, Ignacio Cosido.
