Unexpected sources of protein

PROTEIN is an essential nutrient for the body; it is the amino acids made in the body and comes from food. Our cells, tissues and organs cannot function without them and half of our body’s dry weight is made from protein.

Whilst common sources of protein are eggs, meat, dairy, fish, nuts and lentils, nutritionists say it is important to consume a wide range of protein from different sources which can be found in unexpected places, with dried apricots, sprouts, bagels, beetroot, kale and avocados also rich in protein.
