MORE than 5,000 people crammed into the bull-ring at Roquetas de Mar to see Spanish pop sensation, Malu.
At 10pm, the lights in the venue went down and the audience fell silent. Then Malu appeared, covered in a skin-tight net and sequin outfit, and delighted the crowd with ‘Ni un paso atras’ from her latest album. She spent two hours on stage, belting out her fans’ favourite hits, such as ‘Si’, while introducing a couple of newer numbers too.
Malu expressed her pleasure at being in Roquetas de Mar to sing for her fans. “It is a great joy for me and all of you to be here tonight. The sole purpose of all this is that you leave with a big smile on your face. With all my heart I hope you have a great time,” said the singer.
Maria ‘Malu’ Lucia Sanchez was born in Madrid in 1982. She was discovered at the age of 15 while singing at a family party, and since then she has gone on to become one of the most prominent pop singers in Spain. She is the niece of the famous flamenco singer-songwriter Paco de Lucia.
