THE Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Environment has denied the company Empark Parking and Services SA authorisation to operate tariffed public parking in the esplanade area of the port of Javea. The company requested permission last December permission to close the area currently used for free parking for 50 vehicles and charge for parking during the holiday season (summer and also Easter week) on a three-year license. However, a report submitted by the Port Operations Service has recommended that congestion would be worsened by the move to Park & Pay. Local police have warned that the introduction of a barrier could further complicate access to the fish market, the Marina and the Tango beach area.
