FIFTY-FOUR people, some in Alicante Province, have been arrested for fraudulent use of foreign bank cards in Spain.
Following a police operation on the crime, known as ‘carding,’ officers also made arrests in Madrid, Barcelona, La Coruña, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca.
The counterfeiting and copying of cards was carried out with the information obtained by hackers then sold on with the aim of establishing business contacts worldwide with criminal groups involved in scams and counterfeit credit cards.
As well as the arrests, five workshops have been dismantled apparently used for the falsification of cards.
