THE Guardia Civil police unit has dismantled an alleged criminal gang in Valencia accused of cloning cards to use on online gambling websites
Police claim the group carried out criminal activities in Rincon de la Victoria and Velez-Malaga (Malaga), Granada, Albacete, Cantabria and Madrid.
Four people have been arrested and another seven are being investigated in connection with four scams carried out via the internet, from which suspects obtained almost €10,000.
The suspects allegedly cloned or hacked credit cards to obtain their number and information, which they used to access their electronic bank and carry out unauthorised purchases, mainly, using gambling sites.
The winnings received using this method were then diverted to other bank accounts and withdrawn by the suspects, according to police.
The victim in Rincon de la Victoria was allegedly defrauded of €3,800 through 50 fraudulent charges.
