EUROTUNNEL TERMINAL: Seeing fewer attempts to breach security.
EUROTUNNEL has just announced that there has been a drop in the number of attempts to enter the terminal area by migrants from the Calais area.Following a pledge of £7 million from the British Government to strengthen security and the erection of new fencing, there has been a marked decrease in the number of nightly security breaches, dropping from a high of 2,000 in July to just 150 now. There is to be an increase in the amount of CCTV, infra-red detectors and floodlighting on site but although this is welcome news, French authorities believe it to be only a temporary solution and that migrants will simply seek other areas where the security is weaker.
