Picasso pottery case.
AN IMPORTANT vase designed by the great Malaga artist Pablo Picasso is being auctioned in England on December 15 at Hanson’s Auctioneers in Etwall, Derbyshire. With an estimated sales price of £10,000 (€14,220), the piece was found in a home in Littelover in Derbyshire.
Picasso is best remembered for his abstract painting that can sell for over €100 million.
Although the value of Picasso ceramics are far lower that his paintings, prices have increased in recent years seeing pieces change hands at auction for anything between and €4260 and €144,220. The international UK auctioneers Christies held a special online sale of Picasso ceramics in 2013.
The Picasso museum in Malaga includes in its collection some of Picasso’s experiments in ceramics. The museum is open every day from 10am to 6pm.
