TORREMOLINOS: Initiative will help the town regain its reputation.
THE decade anniversary of the launch of the Andalucia tourism brand has found an extremely fitting setting in Torremolinos, the Costa del Sol town which has changed dramatically over an eventful 10 years.
The commemorative ceremony will be held in late March and Torremolinos has been selected as a symbol of the future innovation intended for Andalucian tourism initiatives.
Mayor Jose Ortiz has strongly welcomed the move as the first step in Torremolinos “regaining its reputation as the gateway to the Costa del Sol.” He welcomed closer ties with the regional government and said the Andalucian initiative would help the town break seasonality with health and educational tourism, and strengthen the cultural awareness of Torremolinos beyond the sun and beach.”
The Andalucian Minister of Tourism also lauded the powerful role Torremolinos has played in catapulting the region to the forefront of global tourism.
Javier Fernandez said the town has great potential and reiterated the importance of strengthening the sector, pledging to tempt tourists across the boardwalk to see a town flourishing with heritage, culture and gastronomy.
