IN THE early evening of March 15 armed robbers attempted to steal valuable items from a jewellery shop in Puerto Banus but were spotted and arrested by officers from the Marbella local police who were patrolling the area.
According to reports, after gaining entry through an upstairs window, they attacked a security guard who was later taken to hospital and then attempted to smash showcases to access valuable watches and jewellery before the five men, said to be of Mexican origin were arrested. Hand guns were also found at the scene.
The daring raid took place at the premises of the Tourbillon Boutique, a high class jewellers owned by the Swatch Group with branches in some of the most prestigious sites around the world.
