CALLE GARGANES: A new look ahead for the busy street.
EVEN in Altea’s version of the rush hour, busy Calle Garganes is strangely deserted at present.
Cars that usually line both sides of the wide street have been banished and workmen are taking over as the town hall embarks on its Garganes makeover.
Pavements will be widened and once the road has been resurfaced and the excavators, drills and workmen have departed, cars will be allowed to park once more, but only along one side.
The fountain that stood at the intersection of Garganes and Calle Raspall has already gone but it will be necessary to wait three months before the €200,000 project is completed.
In the meantime, Roque Ferrer who heads the town hall’s Infrastructure department announced that it will be possible to keep track of the progress made via the town hall’s website www.altea.es.
“We want to keep the local population as well-informed as possible,” Ferrer said.
