Guardia Civil inaugurates first official committee of equality

RECOGNISING the important role that women play in the community and within the Guardia Civil, the Director General José Manuel Holgado chaired the organisation’s first annual equality meeting.

In his introduction to the meeting, he confirmed his intent to ensure that policy would reflect a positive situation taking into account common sense and sensitivity to equality which was welcomed by representatives of both the administration and the professional associations attending.

In essence, the meeting confirmed the need to recognise both the differences between the sexes and the need for equality of opportunity as well as educating officers on the need for tact and use of non-sexist comments or actions.
