A YOUNG girl who was allegedly assaulted for drawing a Spanish flag on her classwork has requested to change schools after the teacher who was accused of dragging her out of the classroom by the neck was not charged with misconduct.

The director of the Barcelona Primary School in Terrassa where the incident took place has assured the parents of the child who filed the complaint that the accused teacher will no longer tutor the girl or her two sisters who also study at the school.

This was not enough for the young girl however as she is scared of the teacher and wants to leave the school according to her parents.

The matter was dealt with by the police in June but they were unable to prove any physical harm sustained by the young girl. If they were to do so then it would be a very serious problem for the teacher as physical assault towards a minor is not taken lightly in schools. He would stand to serve up to 15 years in jail if a judge felt the abuse was serious enough to warrant it.

The Department for Education was notified of the matter by the parents of the girl but they refrained from any investigation, stating that it is down to each individual institution to handle these matters.
