Dutch man dies in Spanish resort

A DUTCH man, aged 21, has died in the popular resort town of Lloret de Mar.

Dewi de Koster, from Haarlem, was found unconscious in the street with severe head injuries in the early hours of Saturday morning (July 27).

He was rushed to hospital in Barcelona, but has since died from his injuries.

Now his distraught family want to know what happened to the young man.

Speaking to Dutch newspaper the Telegraaf his sister Amy Moison explained that he had been on holiday with a group of friends and his 17-year-old brother.

She said that Dewi had walked away from his friends and they lost sight of him. The next news they had was when police traced Dewi’s brother to tell him he had been taken to the Vall d’Hebron university hospital by helicopter.

Dewi’s family immediately flew to Spain hoping he would regain consciousness, but they believe he was already brain dead by then.

Amy told the Telegraaf: “The Spanish police or judiciary could tell us what happened, but we still have not been contacted. All information we receive comes through the Dutch consulate.”

Police initially thought he fell from a balcony, then said it may have been a fall from a wall. His family do not believe his injuries are consistent with either theory.
