HISTORIC: The Finca del Secretario in Los Boliches. Credit: Malaga.es

THE Sohail castle is an obvious sign of Fuengirola’s past, but a second historical site is less well known.

There is in fact a Roman villa in the town known as the Finca del Secretario, which tends to be pretty much off the beaten track.

Now the town hall has decided to do something about this by launching an audio guide in the form of a mobile app.

Town mayor Ana Mula, presented the app on Monday, saying that it is aimed at improving the experience of visiting different historic parts of the town.

She said: “This is a free app that can be downloaded both on Android and for IOS and allows access to useful information and the history of these sites in a fun and convenient way.”

To download the app people can search in the google and Apple stores or scan a QR code printed on posters near the archaeological sites.

The app will give information, free of charge in English and Spanish.

The project has cost €13,409, funded through a grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía.
