THE Welsh Mezzo-soprano singer Katherine Jenkins heroically stepped in to intervene in a day-light street mugging whilst on her way to perform at the Straubenzee Memorial charity carol service at St Luke’s Church.
On her way to the event, the 39-year-old, whilst walking down King’s Road in Chelsea at about 3.15pm, witnessed an old woman being mugged.
Admirably, Jenkins stepped in to aid the woman which resulted in her also being robbed.
Despite the obvious distress of the situation, Jenkins was later able to help police identify the attackers.
According to the MailOnline, Scotland Yard confirmed that police had been called at 15.10pm on Wednesday after the robbery was reported.
Officers attended and arrested two 15-year-old girls on suspicion of robbery. They stated a female member of the public had tried to intervene.
According to reports, one officer was assaulted but did not require hospital treatment.
A spokesperson for Jenkin’s also confirmed the incident saying the star had seen an old woman being attacked and had gone over to assist her, before falling victim herself.
